Structural Corrosion
Structural corrosion
- Structural corrosion due to exposure of weather
The long exposure to rain, water and/or sunlight will lead to corrosion in structural components, such as windows, door and ledges. Such issue can be worsen once sponges within the VGS are worn out, corroding the structural system of the wall.
- Structural corrosion due to biological staining
Rust and corrosion of the VGS metalwork are found to be at the bottom of the VGS, near the drainage pipe. Corrosion was found to be caused by biological staining produced by plants and the lack of regular maintenance in cleaning the VGS.
