Condensation on Chilled Pipes
Introduction
Case Study – An Inspection Shaft at a Basement
The inspection shaft is located along elevation L3, below the front entrance. Access to the inspection shaft is through an opening.
Severe dampness with saturated surface condition was observed on part of the ceiling and beam as well as the wall separating the media room from the inspection shaft. The dampness appeared to concentrate along the corner of the ceiling, beam and wall. Chiller pipes were seen running along this corner and severe condensation was apparent on the pipes. This indicates that the insulation to the pipes is poor.
