Cause of Defects
- Poor performance of mastic around the bathtub may cause water seepage through wall and bathtub joint with heavy usage. Poor design detailing, workmanship or material deterioration may contribute to poor performance.
- Porous internal wall and the presence of inadequate upturn of waterproofing membrane may allow water seepage at the abutment of adjacent wall as illustrated in Figure 1.
- Poor maintenance may cause water seepage through the wall due to failure in taking corrective maintenance at the right time.
