Paint peeling can be caused by improper consideration for drainage at the facade, resulting to water seepage into the topcoat and eventually causing paint peeling due to insufficient adhesion between the layers. As a result, paint peels off the surface in small flakes, allowing more moisture to penetrate through and thus causing further peeling. Problems may be linked to the use of lower quality paint with inadequate adhesion and flexibility, over-twining or overspreading the paint during construction and lastly poor surface preparation such as presence of dirt and moisture causing series of flaking.
