Root penetration through wall structure 

Due to neglect of pruning and regular maintenance of plants in the VGS, this may give rise to issues such as untrimmed and unguided climbing plants. This may be caused by improper considerations for drainage at the substrate as well as maintenance aspects at the design stage. As a result, roots were seen to be entering voids, cracks of building surface and occurrence of proliferation of roots in the substrate of the VGS.
