Rebound Hammer

The rebound hammer test is an established test to estimate the compressive strength of concrete based on testing the hardness of the tested surface with an impact using a spring-loaded plunger.

When the plunger of the rebound hammer is pressed against the concrete surface, the spring-loaded mass rebounds and the surface hardness of the concrete are recorded and compared to a graduated scale to relate to the compressive strength. Common applications include the monitoring of:
– uniformity of concrete strength
– identifying poor quality concrete
– estimating compressive strength
