Cause of Defects
Pipe penetrations — The waterproofing membrane should be dressed up at pipe penetrations and down into the floor outlets. The provision of upstands of the membrane together with fibreglass mesh would maintain the imperviousness at these locations.
- Lack of provision or failure of a waterproofing membrane around the pipe may lead the water leakage through the structural floor.
- Porous infill of the cold joint at the penetration attributes to the hacking of concrete slab and/or leaving large openings during casting could be another factor
