- The porous infill of the cold joint of the pipe penetration may also lead to water seepage (Figure 1).
- Improper laying of pipes could be another reason for the leakage (eg. improper slope in drainage pipe, “short” pipes at floor trap and choking of pipes) as illustrated in Figure 1.
- Lack of provision of waterproofing membrane around the pipe penetration may contribute to water leakage.
- Aging of waterproofing membrane could lead to the failure of water-tightness of the pipe penetration. Generally the durability of waterproofing membrane is 10-15 years.
