Cause of Defects
- Poor design detailing or poor workmanship could lead to insufficient gradient towards the floor trap, flowing water towards the wall and subsequently causing water seepage
- Inappropriate positioning of the floor trap may create water flow towards the wall (Figure 1).
- Prolonged contact with water with following conditions may lead to water seepage through the wall
- lack of waterproofing membrane
- deterioration or premature failure of the membrane. In general, the durability of waterproofing membrane is 10-15years
- rising dampness along the wall
