Cause of Defects
- Detailing of the joint between wall and slab may not meet requirements to provide water-tightness of the joint.
- Poor workmanship might affect the water-tightness of the joint.
- Relative movement between the two elements (slab and wall) may lead to fail the waterproofing membrane at the joint its water-tightness mainly depend on the membrane system.
- Wear and tear of waterproofing membrane could lead to the failure of the water-tightness of the joint. Generally the durability of waterproofing membrane is 10-15 years.
