Falling on/ hit by adjacent machines during maintenance

  • Causes
  1. Not enough space in machine room, hoist way or pit poses hazard of electrocution or hit by moving parts
  2. The working surface is slippery with water, lubricant
  3. No partition in the well / pit that accommodates more than one car
  4. No safety precaution taken;
    e.g. tag off the group of elevator sharing the same pit. A mechanic can be injured in the machine room due to the same reason if the electromechanical parts of other elevators are in operation and there is no safe spacing
