HVAC

Introduction

Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) is almost indispensable in commercial buildings in tropical climate for controlling the indoor environment quality Modern HVAC systems are designed not only to meet these criteria but equipment efficiency, envelope construction methods, optimisation of system demand etc are applied for significantly high energy efficiency. In Singapore the most commonly found HVAC system in commercial buildings is central chilled water HVAC system. For the maintainability grading is generated only for this type of system. However using the fundamental principles presented here, other types of HVAC system can also be evaluated tentatively.
