Wet Area

Introduction

Wet areas are defined as areas within a building supplied with water from a water supply system and include bathrooms, showers, laundries, sanitary compartments and rooms containing a sanitary fixture. Kitchens, bar areas, kitchenettes or domestic food and beverage preparation areas are excluded (SA F1.7). These parts are subjected to constant damp conditions with alternating dry and wet cycles. Most of the problems have their root lying in the failure to achieve internal water-tightness.
