Uneven surface and burn marks on brake pad

  • Description of defect

Improper brake function will result in uneven wear of brake pads where the amounts of friction on both pads are unequal. Cracking, glazing of lifted edges found on the brake pads are the signs of the pads are under thermal distress. This condition will damage the friction material of the brake pads.

Some of the possible causes that lead to this defects are improper break-in procedure, problems arise from hydraulic system, seized caliper components, defective pads and parking brake that is not fully retracting. Excessive wear of brake pads shall be replaced as it will distract the brake system to function properly
