Vinyl flooring are easily scratched due to wear and tear. Hence selection of floor finishes must be appropriate with the usage of the building, to avoid unpredicted heavy usage of the lift. Regular and proper cleaning using appropriate tools will prevent damage of the flooring.

• Causes

1. Floor finishes peeled off, exposing floor to corrode
2. Material is not durable as per usage or vandalism
3. Wear and tear mainly because of unpredicted heavy usage

• Description of defect

The sheet flooring has peeled, leaving patches on the floor surface. The steel floor structure is then exposed for long period, causing it to corrode. This shows inadequate maintenance practice.
