Faulty button (jammed or loose)

• Causes

Elevator call button dislodged from the panel, buttons do not light up

• Description of defect

As compared to the elevator car buttons, elevator call buttons located in every floor normally have less defects frequency as the usage are less frequent. For instance, in one group of passengers, only one person will push the button while for the car buttons every passenger have different destination floor. Hence, the chances of wearing are lesser.

Some defects occur due to misuse by the passengers where they tend to press the call buttons repeatedly as they thought it will make the elevator to come faster. Meanwhile, once the call button is pressed, the call will be registered by the elevator controller.
