Dirt and debris that accumulates in the elevator pit areas can interfere the elevator operation as they may clog and restrict the operation of the equipment. This problem also may endanger as it imposes fire hazard to the system operation.

For cleaning works, degreasing and pressure cleaning of pit walls and floors shall be conducted

• Good practices

Cleaning and removal of dirt and debris should be conducted on regular basis. Any build-up of waste materials or other items and substances that potentially injurious to health and safety shall be removed

• Corrections

Inspection for regular basis. The pit area needs to be kept clean, where is the presence of leaking oil, accumulation of water, and general litter shall be removed. The accumulation of debris and trash in the hoistway provides an easily ignited fuel source.
