Water Wastage

Water wastage usually occurs due to failure of irrigation system, resulting defects such as drainage failure, water runoff, water leakage as well as water logging.

  • Drainage failure

Conventional irrigation drip system and plant sprinkler continue to work even when it is raining. This would then lead to water runoff in VGS.

  • Water runoff due to over watering

Due to irrigation system failure, this may cause implications of plant survival due to overwatering and plants may die. Irrigation system would need to be repaired or replaced with a self-timed irrigation system.

  • Water leakage

Water leakage as a result of improper water fixture and pipe installation, as well as failure in irrigation system. Similarly, irrigation system should be repaired or replaced with a self-timed irrigation system.

  • Water logging

Water logging is caused by failure of drainage and irrigation system (e.g. such as over saturation of substrate and growing media in pipes), which results in excess leakage of water. This issue can be worsen with poor maintenance of the piping systems, resulting to water logging of substrate leading to pipe choking and the rotting of plants due to drainage failure.
