Figure 1: Trolley Unit

  • For rectangular buildings with spacious roof, they can employ the use of trolley units.
  • The trolley units are sufficient to coverall facades due to the simplicity of the shape.

Figure 2: Guide on Installation of Tracks

  • Figure 2 shows a sample of how the track/rail can be laid for both track based (Left) and trackless system (Right).
Figure 3: Traveling Davits System

Figure 3: Traveling Davits System

  • If the roof of the building is overcrowded, it is impossible to install the tracks or rails on the roof slab.
  • The designer may consider using the traveling davits system whereby the rails are installed on the parapet wall.
  • This must be decided at the design stage as the parapet wall needs to be substantially strong to withstand the loads.

The layout of the roof top is very well planned and is free of obstruction.

It does not pose problems for accommodating the BMU on the roof and the laying of guiding rail.

The wheels under the BMU enable the BMU to travel along the guiding rail smoothly.

During cleaning, the BMU is first positioned and the cradle is then lowered.
