Staining

Introduction

The reflective properties of cool coatings and paints may be inhibited by staining caused by air pollution, rain, and the growth of algae, fungi and so on1. It can also be caused by rust staining caused by water runoff from rusty components near the paint. The result is a layer of staining that is characterized by unsightly discoloration and well as inhibition of the paint’s beneficial properties.
