Advantages

• Since acoustical signals come from defects throughout the structure, a few transducers are enough to detect and locate defects over a large area.
• The structure can be tested in use (without taking it out of service) and continuous monitoring with alarms is possible.
• Microscopic changes can be detected if sufficient energy is released and source location is also possible using multiple sensors
• Minor disturbance of insulation
• Early and rapid detection of defects, flaws, cracks etc.
