The principal advantages of the Half-cell potential measurement are:

• The test offers a faster indication of the corrosion level of steel reinforcement in concrete as compared to the conventional method of hacking the concrete to inspect the reinforcement.
• The test is applicable to all members regardless of their size or depth of concrete cover over the steel reinforcement.
