Introduction
Type of Building: Commercial
In this case floor of the basement has cracked at the foot of column. Waterproofing if any appears to have failed. Water seepage and white patches of efflorescence are found along these crack lines as well as spreading over the area around the column.
Aging and deterioration of concrete structures or many other external factors such as ground settlement can cause cracking in concrete floors. In general, concrete cracks can be broadly grouped into pre-hardening and post-hardening cracks. The crack of this case was identified as a post-hardening structural crack caused by structural deficiency in which lacks provisions for ground movements.
