Maintenance and Diagnostics

Regular inspections should be carried out methodically at regular intervals to detect the defects [3]. Recommended maintenance practice to avoid such defect :

  1. Clean the roof surface twice a year. The cleaning is done with a water jet.
  2. The parapet wall is also cleaned by water jet to prevent stain (e.g.aglae).

Carry out daily inspection to check defects and problems so to ensure rectification is done as soon as possible.

Thermography

Thermography can be used to identify the position of cracks. A range of crack widths, representing mechanical damage, has been induced under controlled laboratory conditions [7]. The method is based on the characteristics of heat flow phenomenon, in a conductive medium of specific geometry, which is intended to model predetermined boundary conditions. Thermo tracer is a advanced equipment used in thermography technology.
