Cause of Defects
- Use of closed joints which leads to greater rigidity of the tile layer.
- Installation of the tiles with a thin layer of cement-based adhesive (thus very rigid), phenomena expansion of tiles will be restricted.
- The back of the tiles do not have full contact with the substrate due to localized absence of the tile bed compound.
- Premature installation of the tiles on cement structures that are insufficiently cured, and thus still in a phase of major shrinkage.
- Contamination of the back of tiles with dust and dirt deposits which form a barrier against proper adhesion between surfaces.
- Long term exposure to external environments exposed to considerable differences in temperature
