Cause of Defects
- When the protective coating has been damaged, cast iron pipe could start corrosion forming a cathode in the presence oxygen and moisture, which is relative high in wet area.
- When the corrosion has spread to joints, water leakage is inevitable since formation of rust could loosen the water-tightness of the joint.
- If proper maintenance program or auditing system exists to detect the corrosion and to take immediate remedy, the water leakage of the pipes, could be easily be avoided.
