Staining
Minor staining can be removed simply by cold water and stone cleaner, or if stains are still present, a chemical poultice may have to be applied (i.e. Hydrogen Peroxide, Methylene Chloride, Amonia, mineral spirits), mixed with poultice material.

Efflorescence
Brush, using fiber brushes or more commonly, in conjunction with water spray or chemical cleaning, using fiber or bronze brushes.

If the problem still persist, unfortunately, water cleaning can only dissolving more salt in the stone, and when it dries, the salts return. To correct this problem, do not mop the floor with water. Either vacuum the powder or buff it off with a dry pad. The salts will eventually work themselves completely out of the stone.

Organic growth
Can be removed dry with wooden scrappers and/ or brittle brushes or may be removed using high pressure water lance.

In all cases, the cleaned surface should be treated with a suitable and approved anti-fungidal wash.

Water mark
Use a soft bristle brush to clean into the crevices of the stone. Rinse the stone well and allow to dry. If any stains remain, try a stone poultice on them. The poultice may need to be reapplied two or three times on stubborn stains. Unfortunately, the scratches can’t be removed without severely altering the surface of the stone. Once the stone has completely dried apply a color enhancing penetrating stone sealer and the scratches will be unnoticeable
