Caused by penetration of mositure through leaks or condensation resulting in discharge of acidic substance which erode metal decks. [4]
Damage from phenolic foam roof Insulation can be difficult to diagnose from inside the building.By the time the rust actually penetrates the deck in an area it is likely significant damage has occurred throughout the building [4]. |
Remove the affected portion of the deckwork and it has to be replaced in the same work. Coat with protective layer such as epoxy. [4]

Note: Local failure of insulation may lead to condensation on the lower surface of the roof deck. Despite its higher cost, the failure of insulation results much less obvious than waterproofing failure. [14]
