No major repairs are necessary since it only affects the aesthetics of the facade.
To prevent recurrence [4]:
- remove the source of the dampness and to dry out the walls as thoroughly as possible;
- improve ventilation, if necessary
- remove the infected paint
- sterilise the surface by applying an antiseptic wash and to allow it to dry before redecorating; and
- use a fungi resistant paint
