Metal capping must be provided to prevent further deterioration of the expansion joint. If water leakage can be seen at the underside of the roof slab, this can be rectify by grouting up the structural cracks with non-shrink grout. This is more efficient than recasting the whole slab again. However, it is only a temporary solution but the most practical.
