This defect can be rectified by scraping off the loose material granules (Plate 2.24) on the surface of the bottom layer and apply with more bitumen to the end lap. This is done using the torch-on method as shown in plate 2.25. By doing so, the opening will be sealed up, thus preventing the flow of rainwater from getting in.
