Strength
According to CP 89: 2001, there are two common strengths:
- Low strength: G300MPa, minimum yield stress
- High strength: G500MPa, minimum yield stress
- Low strength: G300 is used for casting or severe forming required. Most roofing sheets are manufactured in G550.
Finishes
Coatings
The coating weights of CP 89: 2001 are:
- Zinc/ aluminium 150g/m² total for both surfaces.
- It applies for both plain and prepainted materials.
- Galvanised – 350g/ m² ((total for both surfaces) applies for plain, 275g/m² (total for both surfaces) applies for pre-painted.
Paint
Paint systems for standing seam roofs are:
- Polyesters – organic polymers characterized by relatively hard and abrasion-resistant surfaces.
- Silicon polyesters – organic polymers offer exterior durability, principlally, through chalk resistance and gloss retention.
- Fluorocarbons – vinyl polymers characterized by being both malleable and durable. They are also good for colour retention, heat and chalk resistant. [2]
