Maintenance and Diagnostics
Do not use acid-based cleaners (below pH 7), high alkaline (above pH 9) cleaners or strong degreasers for maintenance.
It is also recommended to reapply sealers to stones every 2-5 years to ensure continued performance of granite cladding.
Diagnostics of Defect
- Visual inspection can identify such kinds of defects.
- Petrography to investigate the microstructure of the stone.
- Scanning electron microscopy (SEM): determines the surface characteristics of stones.
- Thermography can be used to determine presence and source of water that contribute to the rust. It can also indicate the presence of cracks, if any.
