If alligatoring effect stretch throughout the whole membrane surfaces, it is best to re-apply a new layer of membrane. For small area affected by alligatoring effect, patch repair to may be successful and more economical. Cut out the defective felt, thoroughly dry the base and edges of existing felt on either side

For only a small portion

Cut out the defective felt, thoroughly dry the base and edges of existing felt on either side. Apply layer of high performance felt with first layer bonded to base at the edges only and the top layer continuously bonded over the first layer and the edges of existing felt.

For only a large portion

The only long term remedial treatment is to strip off the membrane and to relay the deck so that only minimum flexing occurs. The procedure is to first strip off the existing damaged membrane. Clean the surfaces free of loose particles. The laying of the new membrane, all good practices are to be take note of to prevent the same defect to arise again.
