Cause of Defects
- Poor quality of tiles that do not meet the requirement of acceptable standards in terms of impact resistance. This may be due to
- Poor knowledge of material selection during design
- Poor communication between designer, contractor and supplier
- Negligence of contractors by not obtaining the tiles from reliable suppliers who provide supporting documents regarding the technical performance of the tiles. Impact force applied onto tile during service (cleaning) may leads to scratches. This may be due to:
- Improper equipment used
- Improper cleaning practices
