Maintenance and Cleaning

Maintenance Cleaning Method Cleaning Frequency
Visual inspection:

More than 25% of the glass wall should be visually inspected in every 6 months for sealant failures and water leakages

Replace glazing gaskets, weather stripping etc as required.

For normal environment condition, basic wash with water and soap should be sufficient; unless there is excessive pollutant. All glass product must be cleaned periodically using neutral non-abrasive cleaning agents contain no fluorine compounds.

Alkalis and acid should not be in contact with glass.

Immediately after washing, the entire surface of glass has to be rinsed and dried. In the event of persistent pollution or fuel oil contamination, stains can be removed by either a solution of clear water and cerium oxide in a concentration varying between 50 and 160 g/litre. Use soft cloth dipped in the solution to clean the glass and only exert the slightest pressure on glass (strong pressure can deteriorate the glass since the cerium oxide then becomes abrasive). Rinse throughly.

Fingerprints, grease marks or traces of mastic can be removed with solvents such as acetone, methyl ethylcetone (MEC), or ammonia, since these products do not attack the seals or penetrate the rabbet.

These method must not be applied to the coated side of glass.

Special care must be taken into account when cleaning the coated glass that is exposed, since it’s easily scratched and damage the coating permanently.

Generally minimum twice a year is specified.

Depending on the environment condition.
