Within 20m from major arterial road: -10% of no. of years

Within 20m from light traffic road: – 5% of no. of years

Test certificate from approved local testing authority (ie tested for fungus resistance to SS 345) : +15% of no. of years

Complying with BS 2569 for iron and steel, BS 3987 and BS 4842: 1992 for aluminum.

Combination of adjustment factors (1st stage and 2nd stage) should be added to obtain the durability values. Refer to durability calculator.

Notes:

  • The type of resin component is listed descendent according to its durability.
  • Oil based paint is normally refer to solvent based paint with alkyd resin component.
  • PVA resin component normally used for interior application.
  • Emulsion based paints fall under water based category.
  • Enamel based paints fall under solvent based category.
  • The painting works shall comply with the following:
    1. SS 7: Finishing paint for gloss enamel.
    2. SS 34: Undercoat paint for gloss enamel.
    3. SS 38: Aluminum wood primer.
    4. SS 91: Non-inflammable solvent based paint remover.
    5. SS 150: Emulsion paint for decorative purposes.
    6.  SS 345: Algae resistant emulsion paint for decorative purposes.
    7. BS 3761: Non-flammable solvent based paint remover.
    8. BS 6150: Painting for buildings.
    9. SS 502: 2003: Textured coatings for exterior walls.
