Jointing Materials

Mortar may be defined as a mixture of cementitious materials with or without siliceous material which, after being prepared in a plastic state with or without water, hardens into a stone-like mass. The principal use of mortar is to bond masonry units to produce a continuous load-bearing element. For good durability the mortar must be made from sound materials and be compatible with the masonry.
