Maintenance and Diagnostics

Periodic maintenance should be enforced to check the aesthetics of plasters. Once large cracks surface, they will propagate along the surface and results in large pieces dropping off. When this defect is detected, it is appropriate to repair immediately.

Visual inspection techniques or instrumentation techniques can be used for regular inspections. Quick response to repair the defect is essential in order to prevent the defect from spreading to other areas. To enhance the quality of the repair work or corrective work, it is important to employ a trained, experienced, in-house contractor to supervise the workmanship.

Dust with a water-dampened cloth. If the surface is very soiled, wash with a solution of mild, non-abrasive detergent and warm water. Wring a cloth nearly dry and work on a small section at a time, then rinse with clear water. Dry the surface quickly before continuing.

Periodic re-painting (about 5-7 years period) is required so as to keep the surface free from such peeling.
