Temporary/emergency repair
Ultimately, any leaking pipe or fitting will need replacing. There are temporary measures that will serve a permanent repair is done. If the pipe cracks for several inches or more, a new section will be needed, which usually requires a professional plumber who has proper tools & equipment.
- Using tape (usually polyurethane resin base) with water as catalyst
- A hose clamp compressing a rubber pad can cure pinpoint leaks or cracks.
- Pipe clamp bolted over a rubber pad seals larger cracks permanently
